Unveiled-Tales Posts

This past Saturday, June 4th, was my good friend Ayleen’s wedding to her now husband, Tom. After a thirteen month engagement, it’s hard to believe that the day has come and gone, but I feel lucky to have been asked to be a bridesmaid and was able to be a part of their big day.

IMG_0528Before Saturday, the past month has been filled with fun pre-wedding activities, from the Wedding Shower on May 1st to the Bachelorette Party on May 14th. For the bachelorette party, the hostess, Jackie, held a Pure Romance Party, and afterward we all went out for dinner and bowling at a local place called Rule 3. It was a lot of fun and we all spent quite a bit of time laughing. Let’s just say that my bowling skills are, well…non-existent. I think my top game was a 63 and can say with confidence that the six-year-old on the lane next to us had more skill.

I have been a fan of the music group Blaqk Audio since 2007. When I first heard them on the radio, I instantly loved their sound. The singer of the band sounded very familiar to me (huge AFI/Davey Havok fan), so because telling who sings the songs on the radio takes so much effort *sarcasm*, I googled ‘Davey Havok’ when I got home that night and found that he and Jade Puget were in another band called Blaqk Audio.

I KNEW that voice was familiar!

It’s been awhile since my last post. Way too long, actually. Where did 2015 go? I can’t believe that it’s been almost a year since the last time I wrote. 2015 flew by and was definitely busy, that’s for sure. For starters:

*My brother graduated with his masters degree in Statistics. This took me to Virginia to see him graduate. It was nice getting to spend time with him and his wife for a couple of days.

*I started school again myself in October. If all goes as planned,  I will be graduating in about three years with my bachelors in Human Resources Management. Between classes and studying, a lot of my free time has been occupied. I find my concentration is much better if I take my books and laptop to Starbucks and just focus. That, and I get to enjoy a latte!

*A good friend of mine, who I have known for 12 years, got married in October. She and her (now) husband came in from out of state to get married since both of their families are in Ohio. The wedding was very nice and it was great seeing her, since I only really get to once or twice a year.

Over the past week, I have indulged in reading the book Imitating Art by Sarah Parry. Below is my review on it. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have given it 4 out of 5 stars. It is available through Amazon. I hope that you give it a chance because I fully believe that you will enjoy it as much as I did, as there is an aspect to it that will suit everybody.

I can honestly say that I really enjoyed this book. From the very beginning, when Nell’s scheming ex-husband is introduced, all the way until the end, it was a page-turner.

Inspiration comes in all forms. Some are inspired by movies, and some by books. There are people who get their inspiration from people, and others from self reflection.

When it comes to many aspects of my life, my husband is my inspiration. He is supportive, encouraging and always pushes me to follow my dreams. He helps when he can and is just all-around amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better husband and he inspires me to never give up.

When it comes to my writing, I get mine from music…lyrics, to be exact.

With finishing my first novel, Not So Bad, and publishing it on Amazon Kindle, I have since started working on my next book. A certain song by one of my favorite bands, Blaqk Audio, and another by my other favorite band, AFI, inspired this idea for an entire book. Davey Havok is a lyrical genius, so it is hard for me not to have inspiration from them.

This past weekend was very productive when it came to trying new recipes. On top of the Buckeye Cookies, I tried my hand at making bagels.  Hubby and I have been eating Panera’s Asiago Bagels every morning for the past several months. We agreed that we could have them daily, and not get tired of them. However, we wished that they were whole grain asiago…thus causing us to make the decision to do our own homemade bagels…

…let me tell you, one day of them and I would not miss them at all. While I am all too ready to just take the batch as a loss and run out to Panera for our bagels, hubby wants to eat the batch and try a different recipe. More power to him, because I am already dreading breakfast in the morning…

I did have another success in the kitchen, though. I tried the Strawberry Cheesecake Chimichangas that are on www.justataste.com .
