This past weekend was very productive when it came to trying new recipes. On top of the Buckeye Cookies, I tried my hand at making bagels.  Hubby and I have been eating Panera’s Asiago Bagels every morning for the past several months. We agreed that we could have them daily, and not get tired of them. However, we wished that they were whole grain asiago…thus causing us to make the decision to do our own homemade bagels…

…let me tell you, one day of them and I would not miss them at all. While I am all too ready to just take the batch as a loss and run out to Panera for our bagels, hubby wants to eat the batch and try a different recipe. More power to him, because I am already dreading breakfast in the morning…

I did have another success in the kitchen, though. I tried the Strawberry Cheesecake Chimichangas that are on www.justataste.com .

What is the best vacation that you have ever been on? What about the worst?

With my husband and I’s 5 year wedding anniversary approaching, we’ve been considering taking time to get away for a few days. We were originally thinking about a 10-day cruise in the Caribbean but decided that at this time, it isn’t doable. We want to go somewhere though. While coming up with ideas, it got me thinking about some of the best…and worst…vacations that I have been on.

In June of 2012, hubby and I went to the Virgin Island of St. Thomas for a late honeymoon. It was a huge decision for us because we were at first going to road-trip across the country. (Are you noticing a theme here about our vacation planning?)  When it came down to it, we realized that we would rather just relax at an all-inclusive resort and not have to worry about a thing instead of dealing with ‘stupid people’ on the road stressing out whoever was driving 3,000 miles from home.

Living in Ohio, January’s are generally cold and dark. It doesn’t get light out until about 7:30 in the morning the sun disappears again at around 5 in the afternoon.  The temperature highs are around 30 (today we are having a heat wave…45 degrees!!!)  and cloudy days are all too common. Unless you are into winter sports or enjoy turning into a human icicle, there really isn’t a whole lot to do. I, for one, am not into winter sports (or being cold) Being a klutz as it is, trying them out could only end in me in a heap on the ground with possible broken bones.
