Crock-Pot Beef and Barley Soup

Crock-Pot Beef and Barley Soup

Spring is here. At least, according to the calendar, it is. In reality, not so much, In the past week alone, Ohio has seen just about every weather event possible, from a nearly 80-degree day, sunshine, rain, thunderstorms, tornados, snow, sleet….you get the picture. It may be April, but some days still feel like February. On the colder days, comfort food and warm soup are craved.

Life has been crazy lately. Between work, keeping up with stuff around the house, and everything else that needs to be done, it seems like the days just don’t have enough hours to get everything done and still have time to relax. I haven’t had the chance to try out any new baking recipes lately, either. I usually default to my chocolate chip cookies. Banana bread is frequently made if we have some banana’s that have been left ignored and unloved for a little too long.

Saint Patrick’s Day in Saint Louis

Saint Patrick’s Day in Saint Louis

I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t take vacations as often as I should. Usually, time off work is spent catching up on stuff around the house. In fact, the last real vacation that my husband and I went on was in 2012. Life happens, time slips away. So when the opportunity presented itself in the form of a girls trip, I was ecstatic! A good friend’s birthday was coming up, and she wanted to go to Saint Louis for a long weekend away. From where we live, Saint Louis is just over a six-hour drive, which is...

Iceland

Iceland

My good friend, Jenn, and her wife went to Iceland for their honeymoon earlier this year. I’ve asked her to write about their experience as my first guest poster. Although it has taken me entirely too long to get this posted, here is what she had to say:  Pages: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3, Page 4, Page 5

AFI Summer

Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Columbus. That is where AFI lead me to next. ( See AFI: Atlanta ) It wasn’t intentional that I ended up going to three more shows. To be honest, after going to Atlanta in February, I thought that it was a long shot that I would see them again at all before at least the year 2020. More dates were announced, though, and because I couldn’t make up my mind between the two closest shows, I decided to do both since they were each under a three-hour drive each way and nearly three weeks apart. I got my...

Baked Parmesan Sweet Potatoes

Baked Parmesan Sweet Potatoes

Vegetables are not the most loved part of a meal in our household. Eating them more because we ‘should’ rather than because we actually like them, they’ve often taken the back burner when planning what to have for dinner. More often than not, instead of having a veggie as a side, I find myself sneaking them into a soup, casserole, or whatever else I am making just to get a serving of greens into our day.
